I visited with soxanne on Wednesday. She flew into the Denver Airport for lunch. Too bad the airport is sooooooooooo far from everything. We just visited and ate at the airport, no sense spending all of our time in the car.


Great minds think alike. I had crocheted a scarf for her and she knitted one for me. She made a scarf to coordinate with my camel coat (and it's orange lining). I made a scarf out of sock yarn since she is soxanne after all. We were so busy talking that we didn't take pictures of the scarves on Wednesday. I plucked a picture from her blog and have posed my scarf with it's matching coat.

But no good deed goes un-punished. With bad weather in the mountains, and Steven's packed work/travel schedule, all of these boxes will be sitting in my dining room until sometime in May.

Vindication for non-scrappers

Don't you hate all those scrap book makers! Well, here is the vindication for all of us who just put our pictures in shoe boxes. You can have all your photos scanned, but they have to be loose and organized by size. You send the pre-ordered box with the photos and a DVD of the images (along with the photos) are shipped back within 24 hours. It was written up in our local paper. The writer is halfway through sorting her photos to ship. Check it out at http://www.scanmyphotos.com/ .
I need to "count" my photos and see how many I have. It would be nice to move with just a few CD's or flash drives of photos rather than all those shoe boxes. Wonder how long it would take for me to go through my boxes? Another project. . .

More School / More iPhone info

So I went to the class for iPhone. It was held in the middle of the Apple Store on a busy Saturday afternoon. Which means that kids were all squealing at the top of their lungs while playing with the Apple computers.

There was no classroom, no chairs and table, no place to put my notebook (yes I had my spiral notebook) and write notes. If this is the classroom of the future, I want the past please.

The students were all my age or older. I guess younger people bought the phone earlier, or learn from other users. It is rather intuitive, and there is an online instruction book, but some instructions are nice. It was interesting to note that I was one of the more "techie" students. Again, only the un-informed probably come to the class.

But, my biggest lesson came last night when I was plugging my phone into my computer to "sync" it. I kept getting the Blue Screen of Death. After the initial panic subsided, I googled for any info on this problems and how to fix it. Turns out that if you have taken pictures with the iPhone and they are still in the area called "roll of film" the camera is looking to print the pictures and most print drivers are not compatible. The whole mess just collides and crashes the computer. I was able to get past the problem by deleting my pictures. Now I have to make my printer drivers compatible with the iPhone. I guess I'll be back to google for the answer.

Back from the Aloha State

Back to reality. It was fun while it lasted. I could read but not edit blogs on my iPhone so I couldn't update while I was away. Don't know if I was doing something wrong, so I put that on my list of questions for the iPhone class I'm going to (YES, apple runs classes for their products.) I did take pictures (witness the sunset) and even figured how to send. Little steps for baby feet . . .

The Gypsy hits the road

No, we are not moving. But I have two days to get my act together for a week in Hawaii. Don't usually think of Hawaii as a last minute destination. All started with a last minute substitution of my husband at a meeting in Honolulu next Thursday, when he objected to such a long flight for a one day meeting, it was suggested that maybe I could go too (implying that we would spend the weekend). But to book my flight on miles, I need to leave on Monday morning (and I'm on the red-eye the following Sunday). Love, those "free" flights. But hey, it's a week on the beach, how bad can it be, right?

What is supposed to be the real exciting news is that I just got an iPhone yesterday. I need to learn how to use it, and load all my data, contacts, music, etc. It has the Internet, mail, instant message, music, video, games, camera, and it is a phone! All in a two by four by half inch package. I hope the phone reception is decent. I'll carry my old phone with me for this trip, just in case.
