One Project Done

Finally finished the "Fat Bottom Purse" from the Happy Hooker Book. Working on something with black yarn requires a lot of light, especially the final sewing. Had a nice sunny day today so I could finish it up.

I didn't like the handles at the craft store, so I made my own with large beads. I like how they look, but the are a little noisy. The instructions didn't call for a lining. I have cut one out for this bag, but can't decide if I should sew it in. Maybe I'll use it a couple times and then decide.

I call her Zsa Zsa

Steven's new car is a 350Z. It is sexy, expensive, and useless. I think the correct name for this baby is Zsa Zsa.

Monday with the snow, he left her home and took my car. Tuesday, he tried to take her to work, but the road was icy and with rear wheel drive, she just wouldn't go up the incline of our street. He tried to take her up the hill in reverse, but ended up stuck in a snow bank on the side of the road. So once again, he drove my car to work. When the temperature reached 50 and the snow was all melting, I dug her out and put her back in the garage.

Today, I was awakened from a nice morning dream to drive to the dealer so that Zsa Zsa could be dropped off for her Clear Coat application (think makeup). Yes she is a Gabor sister if there every was one in car form.

The Weather Channel is FIRED!

Weather.com said that this whole week is supposed to be in the high 40's and sunny.

Very, very surprised to wake up to SNOW!

Today they say "light snow". We have over 3 inches, and some towns nearby have 8 inches. I don't call that "light."

I was planning to Grill my dinner tonight - guess not.

Mystery Book Club

The local Library hosts a Mystery Book Club once a month. The topic for February is the Dame Frevisse Series. (A nun in medieval England, who solves mysteries.) I am reading two of the books and hope to make it to the meeting. Almost finished with the first book. This is sort of the female version of Brother Cadfael. I just struggle with the Welsh spelling/pronunciation.

Dental Work

Wonderful way to start the new year - with an hour and half session at the dentist. Having some old, LARGE, silver fillings replaces with a 3M composite (I'm thinking super-glue). Anyway the work went fine, but my jaw is so sore from being propped open for an hour and a half. You try it! It starts to hurt open, then it hurts to close it, then it really hurts to open it again. Lunch was sweet ice tea (with a generous dollop of Southern Comfort) through a straw. The Southern Comfort was very comforting!

Chinook Winds

It was in the 60's yesterday, the result of "Chinook Winds".  Didn't know the derivation of that term so like a good Librarian, I did my research.  According to Wikipedia "Chinook is a Pacific Northwest Indian word meaning 'snow-eater'."  It is interesting that there are weather terms that are exclusive to different areas to the county.  Nor'easters, and Clippers are two other regional terms that come to mind, but they are both bad weather events. 

The Chinook Winds made it quite pleasant to remove the outside Christmas decorations.  None of my neighbors took advantage of the warmth and today we are getting snow.  But this is Denver, all snow melts in a day or two (or so they tell me).
